Market Garden

The area, now owned by the Murray Valley Aboriginal Cooperative, was once used for market gardens and an Orange Grove. The original owner was Sam Pisasale and he successfully grew and harvested approximately 25 acres of orange trees.

An Indigenous Garden was developed on this site in 1993 and contains a range of plants that were significant to the area for medicinal purposes. Trees planted included wattles, reg gum, saltbush and emu bush.

Also on the site is Warrina Place the Aboriginal Time out Centre which was constructed in 2009. The Centre is used to build local Aboriginal mens capacity to participate in family life and share cultural traditions. The Centre is also used by a Youth Group as a meeting place and workshops are also conducted to educate young people about traditional Aboriginal culture.
